Naproxen May Have Antiviral Properties Against Influenza

Researchers from the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique, Jouy en Josas, France, found an interesting alternative to fight Influenza. They have discovered that Naproxen, also known as Aleve, has antiviral properties against influenza. The medication binds to a nucleoprotein of the virus preventing it from being able to replicate. It also has other properties that reduce viral load in cells and make it a better option than other anti-inflammatory drugs. Researchers are hoping naproxen can become a widely used remedy for the influenza virus.
