Ciprofloxacin-treated cells (10 μg/ml) (right image) had abnormally short and truncated mitochondria. The percentages of mitochondria with a short versus long aspect ratio and rounded versus branched form factor were measured for untreated and bactericidal antibiotic–treated cells.
