PEM occurs when the symptoms of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is worsened and increased in severity due to overexertion. These episodes can last for days and prevent an individual from doing any kind of physical activity and even have individuals bedridden. It is important to learn what can induce PEM in yourself and learn about your limitations. A good way to test for this would be to do a CPET.

Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) allows us to diagnose a patient for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and will also check for abnormality of cardiovascular and pulmonary functions in relation to exercise.
